—Smart, But Not Psychic: How AI Accesses the Real World
AI can write you a sonnet but can't tell you the weather - at least not without help. This session shows how language models work around their biggest limitation: they only know what they learned during training. Tools give them access to live information, and MCP is the protocol making it all work smoothly. We'll demo real simple examples. No coding experience needed, just curiosity about what's actually happening when you chat with AI.

—Augmented Research: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence
This class explores the evolution of scientific research, moving from traditional research models to the emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence and its impact on scientific production. It analyses the main advantages and limitations of using AI in research, addressing issues such as efficiency, quality, ethics, and technological dependence. Throughout the different phases of the research cycle - literature review, concept exploration, information organization, writing, and synthesis - several support tools are presented, including Consensus, Semantic Scholar, NotebookLM, and ResearchRabbit, among others. The session concludes with a forward-looking perspective on Integrated Research Environments, highlighting Prism, a new tool developed by OpenAI that supports the automated writing of scientific articles in LaTeX within a single integrated workspace.

—Gamibot: A Gamified Chatbot for Moodle
Gamibot is an intelligent chatbot designed to support gamification and enhance learning, developed for integration within Moodle environments. Its goal is to increase student engagement through motivational mechanics, automated feedback, and personalized interaction. In this Academ_IA XP Seminar , we will provide an overview of Gamibot, presenting its main features, explaining how it works, and detailing the integration process within partner institutions’ Moodle platforms. The session will also share the results of pilot tests and experimental implementations, including direct contributions from faculty members and project teams involved in the process. The event will also feature participation from members of the INOV-NORTE project (Activity 3.2), as well as course coordinators who conducted the pilot tests, fostering a space for practical sharing and reflection on the pedagogical impact of this solution.
